Project/Program: OIYP is an Oxfam International initiative managed by Oxfam Australia. The initiative supports a global network of over one thousand young leaders, focusing on building knowledge, skills and facilitating networks to create positive, equitable and sustainable change.
Evaluation methodology: The OIYP retrospective study scope included the twelve-year duration of the program. The intent was to understand Oxfamâ€™s future work to support youth active citizenship. Methods included the OIYP program database, case study (Southern Africa) and the use of Sensemaker software.
Achievements: The program was successful in fostering individual empowerment and motivation, in addition to spurring projects that resulted in local / community change. Key aspects of the OIYP benefiting youth empowerment were (1) the Parliament/Kaleidoscope event, (2) the global nature of the program, and (3) the lasting network of Action Partners.
